Raiding Daze: World Firsts Back when I first started doing Guild Interviews on The Conan Times, one of the first groups I had a chat with was Addiction. When asked where they see themselves in terms of server rankings, the majority of guilds say they are aiming straight for the top. Addiction's goals were quite similar, but with this group in particular I had a feeling from the start that they could actually achieve their goals! This morning I had a little chat with Gromph of the guild Addiction, and was happy to hear that they had some raid screenshots to share with those of us whom haven't had the opportunity to raid yet. In addition, I was also told that Addiction had achieved some "World Firsts"! Let's take a look at how some of it all went down, with quotes from Gromph of Addiction. "We like to keep our group makeup a secret, as is standard for most raid guilds, and thus you'll see our raid window blocked out to hide this. All our raids were run with full 24-man groups of 80's. Raids are a lot of fun albeit somewhat buggy. Frequently we have to deal with mobs entering evade mode, regenerating to full HP, and re-engaging the raid. It's irritating but can sometimes be avoided with knockbacks. Our plan since we decided to move to AoC was to make an impact on the raid scene in AoC so you can imagine how excited we were when the Raid Scripter Dev Drauge congratulated us personally!"First world kill, the Champion of the Honorguard in Kyllikki's Crypt:  "To be honest this boss is a simple tank and spank and just has a lot of hitpoints. The challenge is reaching him. When we first arrived in Kyllikki's crypt we ended up creating this elaborate strategy to handle the 5 mob pulls that are the trademark of the zone and wound up getting annihilated almost instantly by the White Hand Spellguards. We don't like to give away our strats but figured we'd share a bit. The Spellguards are basically the key to the dungeon. If they aren't completely CC'd (stunned, knocked back etc.) they will AoE the entire raid with a devastating three-hit unholy AoE spell that will instagib almost the entire raid in an instantaneous volley of three hits of roughly 1600 damage. It requires quite a bit of coordination but its very doable for a decently geared guild entering raids."Another world first that signified the clearing of the first entire raid dungeon as well as a new boss kill:  "This is the end boss (second boss) in Kyllikki's Crypt. I'm not going to give away much about this other than the encounter IS scripted. The mob reacts to certain triggers and plays out pre-scripted responses/spells etc. similar to raids in World of Warcraft. So for those of you wondering whether raiding in AoC will be interesting... it certainly is."Same night, world first kill on yakhmar in Yakhmar's Cave:  "This ones a secret, but good luck :) For those tanks out there wondering whether aggro and taunts work: they do. We haven't tried Vistrix yet but heard an EU guild downed them today and we're hoping to follow suite probably tomorrow night."Thanks to Gromph and Addiction for filling us in, and congratulations on those world firsts!
